The 139,000-ton, 3,600-passenger Regal Princess is among the largest cruise ships sailing the seas. The vessel was built at Fincantieri shipyard, Italy and has 19 decks. Regal Princess features impressive number (16) of bars and restaurants and a luxury spa. Regal offers unique features to her guests, such as a glass-enclosed walkway over the ocean known as the SeaWalk.
The first sailing season of Regal Princess started in the Mediteranean on October 17, 2014 when the ship headed for Fort Lauderdale, FL. A curious fact is that in 2016 Princess Cruises starred in a new 6-part ITV documentary "The Cruise". On March 3 the show aired for the first time in the United Kingdom. It focused on the life of cruise passengers and crew as they sailed through Northern Europe and Russia onboard the Regal Princess. The line featured in a TV documentary for the second year. In 2014, sister ship Royal Princess was featured in reality show "The Cruise Ship".
Regal Princess itinerary program is based on 7-day Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale FL. During summer months, Regal sails in Europe with Baltic Sea itineraries to Russia and Scandinavia ports leaving from Copenhagen (Denmark), with Transatlantic repositioning cruises, plus limited departures to Canada/New England from New York in fall.
For winter 2020-2021 season, Regal Princess cruises in Australia, joining the sistership Majestic Princess. The inaugural Australian season (December 2020 through April 2021) is based on roundtrip itineraries from homeport Sydney NSW. With the new deployment, Princess Cruises increased company's capacity in the region by 40%. Regal Princess Australian program starts with a Suez Canal repositioning cruise from Civitavecchia-Rome to Sydney. Details on the Australian itineraries will be announced in March 2019.
Most Regal Princess staterooms are 220-sq.foot balcony rooms (724). Almost 80% of ship's outside accommodations have private balcony views. There are a total of 1539 staterooms in 38 categories. 36 are the wheelchair accessible rooms. The largest aboard Regal Princess are the Balcony Suites (440 ft2). The ship has no Oceanview cabins.
The bulk of performance action takes place in Regal's Princess Theater, situated on decks 6 and 7. The theater features palladium-style seating; it's deep, and if you don't arrive early, you might find yourself in the back, which is far from the stage. However, there aren't any obstacles or bad sightlines.
The theater doesn't offer tables or drink holders, so if you order one preshow or come with a drink, you'll have to hold it. The entertainment is excellent and varied, with a beat that is quite innovative. In addition to the production shows, the Princess theater hosts other acts including vocalists and instrumentalists.
Follows the complete list of Regal Princess lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults.
